Morgan Branch Church Cemetery ~ Shell Creek

Nestled in the colorful hills of Tennessee rests a country church with it's departed souls resting nearby, in a beautiful setting.

Resting here along a rolling ridge, are Daniel Shell and Polly Miller Shell, who were pioneers to this area. The creek that runs nearby is called Shell Creek, after Daniel.

Many of this couple's descendants are also buried here.

Daniel and Polly were my fourth Great Grandparents.

They were the parents of Elizabeth "Eliza" Shell Winters.
Eliza Shell Winters and her husband William "Bill" Winters are buried near to Daniel and Polly Miller Shell.

Laura Shell Richardson, a descendant, donated the land for this cemetery, many years ago.

Eliza Shell Winters and William Winters were the parents of the Seven Devils and the Seven Angels. Seven sons and seven daughters.

One of the daughters was Sarah Ellen "Ellender" Winters Arrowood Miller.

Sarah Ellender married Samuel A. Arrowood . They were my 2nd Great Grandparents.

This beautiful poem was found propped on a headstone in a country church. The poem was framed and leaning on the stone. A loving tribute to the man's wife.

If I could have one wish, I would make it on you.

To see you laugh and smile, the way you used to do.

Now all I have are memories, down deep inside.

What I would give for one more day, by your side.

I know you tried so hard, to keep holding on.

But God called your name and in a second , you were gone.

But tomorrow will always come and the sun will always shine.

And down deep in my heart, I know you are at peace and doing fine.

I wear your memory proudly, you were a true friend.

And may my love for you reach heaven above,
